15" over 12"

Im still deciding on whether i should go for the 12" mag or 15" mag. Is there really gonna be that much of a difference? I know cone area is gonna be different but is 225 sq in of cone are gonna be that much different then 144 sq in of cone area? I can prolly fit the box for a 15" but i see so many people around here gettin the 12" mag and its still great. The box would also be quite a bit smaller for the 12". Currently i have 2 12" sealed so i have 288 sq in of cone area. Should i go with the 15" so i have a similar amount of output or will the 12" give me a good enough output. At the moment i would be running only 600 watts to it but i will be upgrading that soon to about 1200 or a little above. So what do you guys think, 12" or 15"?

Go with the ported 12 Mag, it will be plenty loud and leave plenty of room. The 15 is louder but how often are you going to be playing it that loud. If often and you have to have really loud then go with the 15.

It doesn't have to always be loud. I usually don't ride with it all the way up. Just when i have some friends in the car they like to hear the beats so i turn it up. But i would like it to be louder than my 2 12"s sealed. And they say one ported is closely louder than 2 sealed.

you will def. want the 15 ported if you want it louder than 2 12's sealed. i always like the headroom....it also gets you farther away from blowing it, cause you dont need to push it as hard...thats just me =)

what subs do you have? sorry if i missed it.

but if you are going to port the mag, in a appropriate box and give it doube the power your current 12"s are getting then output shouldn't be much of a problem. ofcourse not knowing current setup makes that really hard to say.

EDIT: sorry, looked at sig. I'd still say it's a toss up and you should give the mag a shot. porting+ way more power =good.

Yea i got 2 kicker 12" L5's. I know the 15" will be able to handle more power but i don't think i will be getting anything over 1200 because of my electrical system and college. I can't afford a new alternator. I wish i could but i just wont be able to. So i don't really need headroom. I wish i had the money cuz i would get more stuff. So is the 15" really gonna give that much more output than the 12" and would the 12 and 15" mag get louder than my current setup. I know it will sound cleaner but i want it to have a louder output and it should when i port it.
