15" Nightshade > 12" Mach 5 spl?

Lookin to get louder, worth the effort ? Both being powered by single SAZ-1500. I know comparing a 15" to a 12" is redundant, but the SPL is in a class of its own, where as from what I've read the Nightshade is more SQL oriented.

Currenty running the 12" SPL in a hatch, gets loud, but not loud enough. Thanks in advance.

I would try reconing the SPL to a 15" as Jacob suggested, it would be cheaper and likely provide a very similar result SPLwise.

I think M5 sells the baskets for 30 and the recones for like 100 and change. Last I checked they were outta 15 recones though so idk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif.

how does this work?? isnt the 12" motor smaller than the 15" motor?

you might as well just put another 1500 on it, come on man its rated at 2.5K you are babying it right now, get a kicker 2500 or the SAZ 3000.

To increase efficiency with the SPL you could probably go bigger on your box. you are underpowering it like crazy.

For the price of a nightsahde you might as well throw 3k+ at the SPL.

I know the SPL 12's work really well in a 4th order BP. If you have the room, try doing one of those. Make the sealed chamber small and the ported chamber biiiiiiiiiiig and tune it to your liking. My SPL 12's were in 2.6 sealed and the front chamber was 7.5 cubes ported at 45 hz and it was flat out awesome. I need to make the sealed chamber smaller, though. For one, I would do 1 cube sealed and 3+ cubes on the ported end with a healthy amount of port area.

sorry my friend.. none of my friends are into car audio, and I have never taken apart a sub myself, or done a re-cone, or seen one done, or seen all the parts layed out in front of me

Would love to have the experience though

Edit: and I've only blown 1 sub in my life //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif:veryhapp:
