15" Crystal Comps????????????????

My brother has four 15" Crystal Comps that have been sitting around. He use to have them in a minivan in these tiny ported $hitboxes he ordered online running of of 3 $hit Kole Audio amps and four caps. I know he had a ghetto a$$ setup but these subs DID get insanely loud for the price! We ended up blowing up the boxes and amps with them. The subs themselves are still in perfect condition.

Anyways, I'm wondering about these. I don't know anything about the company or if they're worth dropping (money) into another vehicle

Im more familiar with the Crystal CMP's, I dont remember much about the Comp series. I always liked Crystal though. The CMP use to be one of the heavy hitters in terms of subwoofers. The CMPx2 was even better, but neither is that spectacular these days. Quality drivers none the less, classic underhung design. Again, only describing the cmp series, I dont remember the comps well enough to mention much/anything about their design. So I guess I have no idea why Im talking about the CMP's.

lol well thanks for trying man! I dont know anything about the company so any info on their products in interesting and appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

The CMP is not very similar to the IDMax. The CMP is an underhung design with, iirc, a lot less xmax than the IDMax. And the IDMax is entirely proprietary, where as the CMP uses a lot of off the shelf parts. But yes, when the CMP was a current model, it was a contender for the best SQL sub out there. But its hey-day was before the IDMax was released. CMP was back in the days when the SoundStream Exact versus the Alumapro Alchemy arguments flooded this forum, a year or two before the IDMax was released and it along with the W7 and a few other early 'super subs' vanquished the cmp vs exact vs alchemy arguments to the history books. The CMP was/is a nice sub, but not comparable to an IDMax in terms of design or performance.

I had a Crystal comp 10" for an SQ install in my vette for awhile like a bizjillion years ago. It blew up within a month. Low line shit.
The CMP's and CMPx2's are a different story entirely.

post pics of them...either way four low line low rms 15's will still get decently loud
HELL YEA! They were loud even in the shit boxes and with the Kole amps my bro had on them! That's why I'm thinkin about building a real box for thm. Or maybe I'll just build a couple towers for my room //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
