Hi, I am pretty new here. I have been into stereos for years now and never owned a 15. Plenty of 10s and 12s. I want to know if I am missing out in not running bigger subs. I was under the impression that 15s were muddy sounding and suited for rap. I have been running an Orion series 2 XTR 12. It is being fed 800rms, and has taken it for over a year now.

However it isn't as punchy as I like also louder and lower would be nice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif That is where the 15 comes in. Probably something in a sealed enclosure with dual 4 ohm coils that will take the 800rms, and under $200.

BTW Feel free to tell me to go Phuck myself. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

My box specs on the 12 is about 1.5 cubes.

You guys are a bunch of meanies, so I figured I would get that out of the way. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/ready2go.gif.6557fa3d88b9eaca9c7b8efb9cbd02ed.gif

lol, try to find a good RE SX 15" prob gonna be just over $200 if you find a good used one on the forum, otherwise maybe a Type R, RE SE, Orion H2, there are tons of them that are all good, it gets to a point where it depends on the install alot. like any of the ones i mentioned would do what you want, but you would have to install it right to make it sound nice, but would be worth it.

Well th SX looks like a mighty fine woofer. One problem, my amp doesn't run at 2 ohms, and 4 would not be enough power for this driver. The SE looks like a better option. Now where do you nuy these?

my subs have the highest frequency response of any that i have ever heard, and the smallest box you can possibly have.

they are 15's and they get plenty loud for me. the whole "bigger subs arent as tight sounding as small subs" is a huge myth and whoever spouts that is a fucking idiot and does not know anything about audio.

these are similar drivers, and will sound very accurate and quite likely play very high (giving that tight sound)

they arent 15's but yea. the price you can get 4 of them for just around $200

my sx 15 got low.. not sure why everyone says they don't get loud
low + loud does not mean they sound great doing it. and low + loud has nothing to do with having a higher frequency response like he wanted.

Thanks for the info, what subs do you have? I don't have room for 4 mostly likely 1, possibly 2 if they use small enclosures. I really want a flat response more SQ than anything, smooth and punchy.

RE SXs dont like sealed boxes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Thanks.

What about the IDQ 15?

so your looking for a sub with dual 4 ohm coils but your amp doesnt run at two ohms?
