i dont see a amp that does 1000watts more being more efficient, they are both D class amps, if it was AB then it might be a little closer

well since the pg puts out about 1000 less watts i would think it would be better, but they are known for needing tons of juice.
my point exactly im just wondering if my electrical system will withstand the beating

I run the Earthquake amps with very good luck...I have a modded D3 and 4 PHD10,000's I find them to be very powerful amps...
yeah i know but will my system be able to stand this power im looking to only run it at about 1800 to 2000 maybe a little less

just go with the pg then u dont need the earthquake for those subs.
yeah i knew you were going to say that lol but im just thinking about later on ill prob just run it at 1400rms 4 now then when i get 4 of then ill need the power

yeah and your reason is please
The Tantrum is a very solid amp, from when PG built quality stuff. Earthquake doesnt have a reputation for well built amps, or clean power, or for good performance. The choice is yours, of course, but I would go with the Tantrum because of the build quality and reliability.

I say more watts the merrier
Thats a decent theory, but when comparing two amps, if one is a better amp, Id trade a little bit of power for a little more peace of mind, knowing that youll have an AMP and not a paperweight that used to be powerful.
