14.2 ohms???

Oh.. Well unless your box rise is like, ridiculously high or the cone was moving, I'm not sure what coulda caused a reading like that besides a faulty DMM.
I would try changing the DMM batteries anyways though. Once my DMM was reading some things perfectly correct, but other things incorrectly, changed the batteries and it worked fine after that. I'm not sure..
box rise wont affect a sub thats not playing

check the connections on the back of the terminals, if there is a loose wire, barely connected it will do that

also if something is pushing on the cone it will do that too.

Hm really? My subs always meter .1-.3 ohms off once in the box, I always thought that was due to box rise..

You learn something new every day! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

Actually I learned two things today, this and the passive xover info. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif

yeh it wouldnt read at all if it was blown
measure both coils, not just the 2 wires comin out the box
Not always true. You can have a fried wire that is partially connected resulting in a higher than normal impedance.

Once in the box, are you also reading the wire and terminals said sub is connected to? That would increase the resistance....

so i took my sub out a little while ago one coil reads 3.2-3.3 ohms the other reads 3.5-3.6 ohms.... when i tested it at the box with the wires not in the amp it read 1.9- 2 ohms, but when i put the wires into the bridged channel it reads 14.2..... i then put the speaker wires into just the left channel and it read 1.5 - 2 ohms...... is my amp f*cked???? and also i opened my hatch to listen to it and it sounds horrible like its bottoming out!! any ideas??

opened my amp up and this what i found........
