14.2 ohms???

checked to see if my sub was blown with my dmm and got 14.2 ohms!! its a dual 4 ohm wired down to 2 ohms is she toasted?? what is going on??

I've never heard of a coil having too high of an impedance... but, from first thought, I'd say either faulty DMM, or the coils fubar'd.

its not the dmm i put it on my home theater sub on the same setting and it read 4 ohms.... i dunno WTF!!!

take the sub out and test both coils.

If they read differently, its ****ed.

If they read normal, its something else.

Simple as that.

If they read differently, its ****ed.

If they read normal, its something else.

Simple as that.

measure both coils, not just the 2 wires comin out the box

Oh.. Well unless your box rise is like, ridiculously high or the cone was moving, I'm not sure what coulda caused a reading like that besides a faulty DMM.

I would try changing the DMM batteries anyways though. Once my DMM was reading some things perfectly correct, but other things incorrectly, changed the batteries and it worked fine after that. I'm not sure..
