13 w7 vs 12 fi q with bp option

Xmax is not a good indicator of how low a sub can play. Not hardly, especially when discussing a ported box.

The W7s just don't get what most on here consider loud. They have a huge potential output for a sealed system when compared to other sealed systems, but once you include ported systems in the comparison they just don't have the peak motor strength to really get the port working.

I've heard both and prefer the Q. I've honestly never heard a W7 I would be happy with.

From what it sounds like I'd lean towards the BL in your situation too. My brother has a 12" BL, and I've heard 18" Bls, and they get lows great in a low tuned enclosure.

why the bl though?

i have a ported box

Because I have heard them in a ported box and though they sounded great. If you build a good box for it you should be happy.

If you plan on entering SQ competitions and busting out the RTA to try and get a flat eq and all that, maybe the Q is for you. But if you want it to sound good and tend to listen to music with a bit more bass heavy attitude the BL would be my choice. I think in the right enclosure it has the potential to sound great for daily beating.

You already said you are upgrading to go louder, and the BL should do this.

theres so many options lol what should i get?

i had a 13w7 and loved it i regret selling it. it hit the low notes easy and clear, playing a range of bass notes high and low in rapid successiokn kinda fvcked up the sound quality though. but cost wise the fi is a better sub but if money isnt an object i would def buy a w7 again (but i am broke //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif)

the problem with hearing most w7s is the ppl that have them....standard HO box with the jl 500 or jl 1000 going to it......

Idk if anyone has mentioned this but the 12 inch w7 is a single 3 ohm speaker and the sundown is 800 watts at 2 ohms and 400 at 4 ohms.... my w7 was like 3.7ohm on the dmm..... so you need to consider you wont be having as much power on the w7 as the Q...... if you are considering the w7 compared to a fi speaker i would get the BL...... but thats just me.....

Well according to the Big 12" challenge, the Fi Q will get a whole lot louder and play better over a wider range of frequencies than the w7.

As far as sound quality goes, they're both great.

I would go for the Fi, but maybe I'm just biased. *Points at sig*

As far as Fi BL and Fi Q, I've heard that the BL doesn't get that much louder than Q and sacrifices alot of sq while doing so, that was my deciding factor when I got my Fi Q.

Everyone I've talked to told me the oposite, and the BLs I've heard were much louder than the Qs. I really wish I could get my bro to meter his BL 12 (in a really crappy ported box) because I know it's low 140s, unless it's one of those crazy sounds-much-louder-than-it-meters deals.
