1200w to a 12sx

No, no electrical upgrades. I might have the big 3 done, but in the even that isn't possible, I need to know otherwise. If it doesn't work, I can look at something else.

yea it should work. I don't see a problem with it unless you have some type of small car with a tiny *** alternator. Most factory vehicle electrical systems should be able to handle 1200w(you'll only see probably 1000-1100 of that). Make sure though that you hurry up and get that Big 3 done. Then add whatever else you need to strengthen your electrical system

Yeah, I'll ask them to do the Big 3 without my dad knowing they did it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

...Because he still won't let me touch the car's electricals myself even though he worked as a mechanic from HS through med school

Audio Vision. It's a show near my school. Brian at soundsational is good, but I like AV better. Better service, better atmosphere.

Is 1200w a reasonable amount to supply an SX with?

Also if I am figuring this right you'd need... 85 amps or so off the alternator to put out 1200w at the amp.

P = IV 1200w = 85A x 14V

Since your car is a foreign car it may have a small alternator. My Corolla has a very small alternator. I've seen it listed as between 50A and 80A. Even if it was an 80A though it couldn't supply that 1200w as it also needs to run the car so that uses some of the charging from the Alternator I'd imagine. I'm sorta grasping with what I've learned and that isn't much but... I'm trying to help lol.

I looked it up and the output for an alternator in a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant is 85 amps, your car will need at least 40 amps just to run(ignition,accessorys,headlights ect), I don't think you will be able to get away with any more than 600 watts RMS without any electrical problems even with the big three.

Yes that is plenty for an SX. I'm only giving my 18" SX a 1000 watts. I can go more but I've heard people get to smell the sub rather than hear it when you get much more than about 1500(just what I have been told)
