12" Rockford p3 vs. 12" Alpine type R

Well i am up in thet air about what type of subs I should get. My friend aka Wragold, keeps tell me that I need to get the Alpine's and not the Rockford's. But alot of other ppl are telling me stick with the Rockford's. What ones should I pick?

I used to have the old P3 and Now I have the new Rs . The Rs get louder and sound better.
