Care to explain the noise? If the sub was in the cabin of the car, would the noise be audible?

no noise can be heard inside the cabin....only when you pop the trunk it can be heard (at high volumes)
if the sub was in the cabin....there is strong possibility that the noise will be audible
here is what they told me:In Title: "Image Dynamics IDMAX " [description implies your item is not branded by this company - BRAND NAME MISUSE]
In Description: "This sub resembles the Image Dynamics ID MAX in output and SQ."
