12" L7 spl/deep bass box that kicker gives

is the spl/deep bass box that kicker gives any good? i think its 3.25 ^3 ft. but im not sure on the tuning frequency.. i heard its tuned kind of high, also its going to be going in a 89 buick century that does not have fold down seats...

i listen to mostly rap ... so would the default tuning frequency given by kicker be sufficent? or is there a way i can use the same plans but change the tuning frequency?

thanks in advance!

i am building my own enclosure but i dont exactly have $250 bucks to fork over to TCAB to make me a wonder box nor do i have 10 bucks to pay for someone to make me some plans, unless someone wanted to be nice on turkey day...

geeeez

well, i dont think i would make the box 3.25 unless you really knew what you were doing, i'd drop it down to a 2.7-3ft^3 box and port it how you need it. on this forum somewhere i believe there is a formula to figure out the port tuning freq.---You should have it around 32-35hz if you listen to rap.

why would oyu not build a 3.25 box? i thaught L7's were BIG BOX MOSTERS ... thanks for the link! this will make me box plans for free woo hoo!
A subwoofer can more easily bottom out in a larger enclosure, so if you are inexperienced with this concept then you might not want to try it. Bigger is not always better when it comes to boxes...

hey i used to live in west palm beach, i lived in society hill townhouses back in the early/mid 90's when WPB used to be the ghetto... do they still have the majik mart?

and also i am inexperienced in this type of thing but i do know how to work with wood... so what would be the best size for the box? i measured my trunk and its around the area of

35" wide, 34" long, 15" tall, and this is taking into account of the notches that jut in from the wheel well + stuff like that ... so i want a box that tuned to 32 hz... just need to find the best cubic feet of the box...

ok i got a 3ft^3 box tuned to 32 hz... port width is 1.75, port area is 23.625 and port length is 16.75

external demensions is 35 wide x 15 tall x 14.25 deep

any ideas of where to mount the subwoofer itself.. should i put it on the same side as the port so sub + port face same direction or should i put the sub firing up and the port firing twords the trunk, or sub firing up and port facing twords cabin?

Just today me and a friend put in his newly built ported box. We messed around with posistions of the box and the best setup FOR US was firing the sub towards the back of the trunk and firing the port upwards.

Experiment to find out what sounds best.
