Are kicker comps supposed to be like good, or is it just the name?

I saw on sonic electronix they want like $100 for a 12 150w rms kicker comp, but only like $170 for a 12 kicker L5 thats 600w rms....

Whats the deal?

What would you pay for a pair of used kicker comps and box with a cheap "autotek" amp? With box.

Can get better for the cash. But a pair of comps in box, I'd say about $150 tops, if that, in good condition. Amp should be considered free with purchase of subs lol

Edit: scratch that, you can get a pair brand new for about 120ish. So, maybe $100 for a pair in box lol.

yeah i saw them on amazon for like $60 each, wtfs with that? but they want $100 elsewhere?

Nope. I've owned both & the L5 is by far a better subwoofer. That said, they both sound horrible.
LOL... well my roommates just lookin to buy some subs. He has 2 12"s now but they are serious garbage. my 12" MTX terminators make them sound like **** (and quiet)

theyre all more pricey too... I just typed out a dang response and hit the wrong button to post...

anyway, my roommates subs are complete garbage, my mtx terminators make his sound like quiet POS... so anything is better than that. and he was thinking of getting a 12 or 15 L5... plus a new amp and all that stuff adds up.

He doesnt need anything that great because pretty much anything will be better that what he has now.

I know of all the good brands and stuff but I figured it would be better to keep it cheap... He cant tell his subs are bad anyway.

Personally I want a FI BTL 15 but thats not what this thread is about lol... I have a friend with a one 12" type R that puts my subs, and every other dual 12'' subs ive heard to shame.

That must be one magical Type R....

Buy some cheap entry level subs, I have two P1s in the back of my explorer, and I've had my boss come out and tell me to turn them down because they could hear them in the store from over 100 feet a way.

REX12D4

P1S412 (Current subs)

stick them on a cheap 1000w amp, and I guarantee you jack the gain 3/4 of the way up, and he'll be a happy driver.

KAC-8105D (My current amp)

Not magical lol... its just got a big *** ported box, and lots of watts goin to it. My subs are sealed, 250w rms each, but my amps a POS and like 250 max output.

They would be way better if i had a better amp.

The type r doesnt sound that good though, its just really loud. it can be heard from pretty far away too.

idk I mean ill keep this stuff in mind if i know anyone lookin for some good 12's but right now for my roommate i doubt he would notice a difference between anything good or ok...

I was gonna get one of those KAC amps but people on here were saying to get a different brand. I was lookin at 750w hifonics, or 500w RF amps for my subs.

I would buy RF, it just seems to me that their amps are stupid overpriced.

imo kenwood is good for budget bumpers, but anything over 1000 watts, I'd get a better brand.

If you just want a decent sub/amp combo at a cheap price, this is all you need. Best bang for your buck imo. Both items are brand new & you're looking at $200 shipped for both items. Be sure to get the dual 4ohm version sub & wire it to a 2ohm load.

Thanks, ill show my roommate that stuff. this kid with the Comps said someone offered him $300 so one of these other options might be best for my roommate. (... people these days)

yeah RF seems over priced to me too but I guess theyre one of the best... I would be fine with a hifonics because i know its better than what I have now and theyre pretty good for the money.

I was torn between getting a 500w RF or a 750w hifonics, for almost the same price. my subs being 250w rms each... 500 would be perfect for playing it safe.
