10w6v2 vs Fi SSD

I have a 07 tacoma ext cab...so not much space to work with.

right now i have a 10w6v2 but its a dual 2 ohm

I have a Alpine m650 monoblock amp so its 400 watts @ 4ohms

I was thinking of getting the Fi SSD 10" or 12" dual 1 ohm. That way i could get full output out of my amp...birthsheet is 740 watts. I'm using monster cap 1 farad and yellow top optima battery.

I can only go with sealed enclosure...which sub is gonna be better for me.

ANY other suggestions? i cant afford another amp right now

get rid of the cap
x3, get a small additional battery hc800 or something, and as far as sound, a 10 or 12 SSD copper coil on 750w sealed would sound very nice, might want to check out soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum and do a search someone did a review on a setup EXTREMELY similiar to this. i believe the W6 might still edge out in SQ but probably only in spectrum that an audiophile would notice a difference. i do however believe the SSD would have at least minimally greater output.

I bought it direct from jl audio...employee accomodation 90% off retail...probably 5 years ago.

I want it to hit harder...i want to feel it in my chest yet still being clean at the same time.

I used to have an old 12" cadence beast the original...it was perfect hit hard and was pretty clean..but back then i had the old mtx 1000d amp. maybe i just need more power?

You already have more power than that JL wants. Adding more won't get you anything. Your best bet, sticking with that sub, is going with the JL spec ported box. You said that isn't an option. With that in mind, I doubt that you're going to be happy with a single 10. Considered going back to a single 12?

Its not the sub or the enclosure that is your problem its the Alpine amp.. I had a 1005 on 2 IDQv2 and kept tweaking and tweaking and tweaking but couldnt get the sound i wanted (low freqs). I ended up selling my car and the guy wanted the amps (1005 and 345) but i kept the subs. I dug out my old Mmats d300hc and put it on my subs and they sounded amazing. I have another friend that has 2 12" Diamond D6's on a Alpine 1005 and he was having the same issue. Just as a test we hooked up the D300HC to his subs and the lower freqs would hurt your chest.

I tend to think that the newer Alpine amps are great for components and coaxels but **** on subs. If you can just borrow a diff amp (preferably something american made) you will see a nice difference.

J.
