10w6aew vs 2006 10w6

Anyone have experience with these 2 woofers? I have heard the JL of today is not the same SQ of 10yrs ago. From my understanding the 10w6ae are the "old school" ones from back about 5 yrs ago that have excellent SQ. Back when I got out of car audio in the late 90's the 10w6 was the IDMax or FiQ of today. For those who have actually heard the old ones and the new ones how does the SQ compare?

I have a lot of experience with the old ones (still have 3) and have heard the new ones. The new ones sound really good but are $$$.

They have 2 of the old w6's on ebay right now. uber cheap too.

i run the jl12w6v2. compared to my previous ID12v3 drivers, the w6 had much better output and spl, but was right behind the ID12v3 in SQ. and the ID12v3 are known for SQ as well.

My buddy pretty much has his mind made up that he wants a 10w6 I was just wondering what direction to send him in. The AE are much cheeper.

I have two 13W6v2's, and they are very, very nice. They are almost like the W7, except they sacrifice a little (very little if you ask me) output for much more sq. Great driver.

plus they dont have the gay coil configs that the w7's have.
