On a little over 1000 watts which sub would you guys pick for daily ddriving spl and low note authority? DD3515 or Treo SSI 15, both dual 2? I already have the Treo, but I was just wongering if the 3515 would be much of an upgrade.

i've never owned a Treo woofer but i have had a few DD woofers in my day and would have to say DD 3515 should prolly use more the 1100 watts so you could prolly just get a bigger amp for your treo woofer and be alot louded

Most likely you'll be able to do better than either. Both of those subs are meant to handle a lot of power and as such are really anemic with a relatively small amount of power. This is really important if you're wanting the lows since the tighter suspension and heavier moving mass will really hurt the efficiency on the bottom end where you need the sub to move some air. Something like an Fi SSD, SSA Icon, Mach 5 IXL or other similar drivers made to work with lower power would be a better match to your desires.

The Treo is only rated at 750rms and the 1000 or so that I'm giving it currently ( Lanzar Vibe 1800d @1ohm) seems to be giving it all it can handle. Do I really need more power? Its not appearing to reach its mechanical limits, but the dust cap does get a little warm after awhile.

Yeah thats what treo says but I've read almost everywhere that they can take almost twice that but I would hate to blow my sub trying that.

I put 1500 rms to my SSi for daily for a while, yes it was a bit much but I have to get after the volume to make it smell. In a daily box tuned to 36 hertz, with just 1 8" Treo SSi all the way in the back of my 4 door Jimmy I pulled a 136 daily average on music sealed on the dash. That is very healthy for a single 8 daily better on music. That Treo will also kill the DD in quality of sound and will certainly slam the lows better. I do have a pair of 3512 in my garage, I also have a pair of Treo TSX 12s, I have SSXs, SSi, and TEs. I also have the DD clones the AQ HD2.5s, so I have tired them each in daily applications and spl applications. I will give the 3512 an edge on the SSi for meter use, but for lows, daily use or SQL, or just loud to the hear hands down the SSi has the DD.
