1000+ Watt Amps

Phoenix Gold Tantrum 1200.1 - $719.95 - http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/PHOT12001

eh like... expensive ! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Octane-r R15 and R30 go over 1000w easily (r30 was tested in my shop a week ago and they got almost 3000w out of the freaking beast while this should be its peak and not its RMS @ 2 ohm)

They have more 1000w+ amps but not in an interesting price range... Note that the tantrum is 1200w @ 4 ohm and not at 2 ohm....

ok dewds.. here´s a new one which I bought yesterday and installed yesterday:

QX900.1D - 1100w rms @ 2ohm (i use 14.4 with DP)

The amp is underrated I think but beside that it has a so pure signal that even my lower serie S3 woofers of emphaser are hitting REAL hard.. it got all of the protections you want (otherwise i wouldnt have had the s3´s today couz they would have been blownup)

Now, what I need to know is the following:

I am dumping the S3´s and putting in the octane´r as scheduled however the amp does 1100w @ 2 ohm rms and the amp has 2 speaker connections that are wired in parallel internally meaning they are 550 each?

In any given case, should i go for the octane 12 or the 12d ? each coil is 250w @ 4ohm

If i´m getting it right then two parallel connected 250w @ 4ohm rms subs should be a perfect match with that amp... am i right here ? Or should I wire in serie, if so, why should i need to do so ?

tnx upfront.. been a long time since i was THIS happy bout an amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

from now on make a thread...

but, if you power those subs with that amp then you will be running it at 2 ohms, and you'll be giving the subs more than double their RMS...so im not sure if you want to do that.

We should start another thread using all of these amps, but with the lowest prices so that people looking to upgrade or just get new stuff can get good deals (short of connections to dealers). Could do one for subs as well. Then again, all of the best prices are from thezeb and ikesound.
