I don't post on this site to often, but thought I'd share my results with you guys.

Met up with a friend and went down to montgomery for the Team Street Shakers car audio competition. I have a RF Power HX2 10 in a 1.7 cube ported box tuned to 33hz (built by me) in the trunk of my mustang. It's powered by a Power Acoustik A2400db @ 1 ohm. I wasn't sure what I would score, but I was told it was loud for a 10" sub.

We got there and all I saw were suvs...I'm like, there is no way I'm gonna be able to compete with this crowd...oh well, I was there to get a score and to promote my box building.

But my turn came up to test out the sub, and man was I nervous. This was my first time on a mic, so i was not sure what to expect. My first run was a 132.9 sealed with mic on the windshield playing Kickin it by OJ da juiceman. I wanted that 133 but just couldn't get it (peak hold on the TL)...

We were given two 30 second runs. Didn't matter what we did to get the highest score possible in the 30 second time slots....I waited about 30 minutes before my next run.

My next run was a little better. I played #11 "Liquid bass" on the Bass Quake-Bass After Shock cd....I wasn't expecting what I got with this song because it gets very low, as some of you may know....But I ended up scoring a 134.6 @ 33hz!!!! Everyone was very impressed even though I had the quietest system at the show. I probably could have squeezed out a 135 if I would have revved the engine up instead of letting it sit at idle, oh well...

Want to give a shout out to Team Street Shakers...very nice group of guys and girls. Thanks for everything...My friend scored a 142.4 with 2 Konaki 12's on 2000rms in a ported box that I built for him, 6 cubes at 36hz.

But I just wanted to see what you guys think...Thanks for looking!!!

Nice man that is a decent score of that sub. You should be happy with what your doing on music if you ask me. Very good score.

Can you do better? Well we can always improve but the amount of work you do for the gain starts to thin out. I could see building a few more enclosures to test a few ideas out and gaining a a full db or so and then add in keeping your car idle higher you would be around a 135/36 maybe. Which as your score already is pretty good for a single 10. If you switch to just a burp setup then of course it would get much higher.

nicely done, those subs love to dig low so i am not surprised //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I thought about building another enclosure for it...the same size but increase the tuning to 35-36hz...not sure how it would do though.

It gets very low and will make your teeth chatter on a few songs. I rebuilt the sub not too long ago. I used the same cone/surround, coil, and basket...just replaced the single sagging spider with 2 mediums from psi. I think I should have added 1 more to make a 3 layer, but thought it'd be too stiff...I think 2 worked out perfect.

A better amp would probably wake that baby up some.
This amp does rated power. I have this one and one just like it except one size down (a1800db)...I love both of these amps, I don't think either of them have ever gotten hot...warm but not hot. Very solid amps, and i think most people on this forum would agree.

Thanks for the compliments guys...BTW, the 134.6 was scored when i rolled down the driver side window...it was a 133.2 or so sealed up....Any other suggestions or tips are appreciated.

I have never seen a Power Acoustik amp do rated, so thats rare. Regardless, I dont think an HX2 is gonna take 1800 watts RMS on the daily... Nice score, though, congrats.

a power hx2 will take 1800 daily if you know what your doing...your score is kinda low, but thats because mustangs can tend to be hard to get loud. I know someone is who is only doing like a 138 on a Lvl3 15 in a mustang..conversely, my brother is doing like a 137 on a punch hx2 10 on 750 rms in a little Honda...cabin gain can make you or break you...if it sounds good, then dont worry about numbers

they should take about 1500rms no problem...once you pass that, you better know what your doing...or so i've been told.

why is it so hard to get the mustangs loud? I noticed that my car hardly flexes, at all...My gf told me the guys at the show were all looking at the car saying "really, is it really that loud" cause the car was hardly flexing, vibrating, etc. I have no deadening or anything like that in the car.

it may not do exactly rated power, but its very close. Do a search on that model on this site...you'll be surprised at how many people love this model power acoustik amp.

anyway, back on topic...

The version of amp you have was a ripped off planet audio design. They are decent but they do not do rated or close to it (cleanly) actually, which only makes your score look better. I agree a new amp would get you a little ways, but not to far considering I think your close to the limits of the application.

Thanks for explaining that...i paid 200 for it so I'm not complaining

My apologies, did not notice it was a power HX2, was thinking it was a punch...

But yes, step up the amp, that should help some, even add some sound deadening to the trunk lid may help. Of course you could tune higher, but I bet it is very musical as it is now.
