10" l7's don't get very low??

sue me, its a ford.
After a few weeks of listening to these on low bass, ive noticed they seem to dissapate at 30 hz, anything lower, and i hear air flapping behind me. I know lower notes are mostly felt not heard, but they just seem to get quiet, and im tuned at 30-31. I went by RE's calc, and i've been hearing that its not correct? Could i be tuned higher? it sounds like 34-35 honestly. And yes, its a big deal, because my whole collection is at 35 hz and below.

box size? port size etc..?

Usually whatever you tune your box too, you'll peak about 5-10hz above it....mines is tuned to 32hz and i peak around 43hz....it's vehicle dependent too...or so i've been told....

lots of variables could be doing that, lots

1) messed up box

2) vehicles natural resonating frequencies effecting actual box tuning

3) box leak

4) if you have had a large setup (15" sub or greater) chances are 10's arent going to seem to play "low" to you

what is the fs on those subs anyways? xmax?

I'm guessing you made a box that was calculated to exactly 35 Hz and then built it. Well since it's a smaller box for 10's, a slight change in volume could really throw off the tuning. Since the L7's have a huge *** end, I'm guessing you built a box tuned to 35Hz, then put both the subs in which displaced a decent amount of volume and the tuning shot up a bit. For example, if you added the subs and maybe a tad bit of bracing, by simply losing 0.3 of a cubic foot in a box tuned to 35 Hz will kick the tuning up to 37 Hz. That would be my assumption. Either that, or your port is too close to a wall in the trunk. You need at least the width of the port between the port exit and a solid object or it'll sound like shit.

Its your box just like I told michaellane I don't care what self proclaimed ca.com box expert built the shitty box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure he designed and built his own box based on the OP. So don't make him feel bad and //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

BTW, if you want to keep the box and lower the tuning a bit, you could use some polyfill in the box. Just take the subs out and use a staple gun and put some on the walls of the volume the subs are in (not in the port). The subs will think they're in a slightly larger box and the tuning should drop a tad.

my L7 10s hit very low box tuned to 32 hertz and I dont have a problem they hit 10X harder then my kicker cvr 15 dvc 2 ohm 15s in a 32 box with same amp...
ITS YOUR BOX.....
your 10" L7 is hitting as hard as 10 15" kicker CVR's?

Never said than 10 15s thanks. Its a Single CVR 15

Yes they hit way harder and better numbers thanks
