Do some research at the library. Read at least two articles in books or encyclopedias to learn what the marriage ceremony has meant

-historically;

-in other cultures; and

-in other countries.

Write several paragraphs (approximately one page of notebook paper, one side only) relating the information that you found. Give your own personal reaction to what you learned, also. List your references at the end of your paper: author, title, date of publication, and page numbers. (Articles in encyclopedias are often signed. Ask the librarian to help you find the authors.)

just a sample of my work. . . this is a small part of my 7 page paper i wrote today:

Success in the aspect of totalitarianism rule in the nation of China is greater than any other nation to date. Maoist China started in 1949 and little did the world know how much success it would have until its downfall only 27 years later (1976). Mao Zedong came to power when the Communist Party of China won victory over Kuomintang in the Chinese civil war. The success of China under Mao was ended by his death.

While Mao was in power, China had made a great improvement in social and economic standards for their people. In Chinese health care, a universal health care system was put into place at many times no cost to its population. China during this period also doubled its life expectancy from a low age of 32 years in 1949 to 65 years by 1975. Maoist China also took care of their peasant population in helping them and benefiting their people as well; during the Maoist regime, 1.3 peasants were taken off of the streets and put in the countryside to help aide in health care centers. China’s infant mortality rating by the end of the Maoist regime was lower than in New York City. The health care in China during the Mao era was drastically improved for the people of China that to this day they reap the benefits of. The heath statistics have proved to be steady.

Economy during the Maoist era is thought to be bad; however people are usually misguided to think so. Unfortunately because people in the western side of things favor the capitalist approach to governing not only people but government, they feel the economy by default is no where are good for growth. During the time of the Mao China this was proven incorrect.

From when Mao took power of china, the economy took a shift for the better as well. During the 27 years that Zedong Mao was under control, the nation averaged a steady growth of a 10 percent increase per year. China transformed into a great industrial nation due to its use of all the population that it carries. Although the nation is in comparable size to that of the continental United States, it has 4 times the people that the United States does.

In agriculture for China, it grew continuously every year. The growth of that of industrial china was not comparable to the agriculture aspect; however the average growth of agriculture for Maoist China was that of 3% per year. The agriculture growth was keeping consistent to what is that of the population growth and was able to feed everyone in China because of it.
