1 X-15 vs 2 AB XFL 12"s?

Ok so I've got 1 Sundown Audio X-15" and 2 American Bass XFL 12"s. If I had really nice custom built enclosures for both very well tuned which sub or subs would outperform the other? I know the 12"s have more surface area so that's obvious but what about the X-15 and it's massive Xmax for a single 15" vs the 12"s? In a great daily driver/sleeper setup which is more practical?

I say sleeper because I imagine it being pretty cool to open the hatch and show a single 15" or 2 12"s doing all that work.

BTW I would love to do 2 X-15 but I don't see my budget slotting that any time soon.

Wow those prices. I can't believe how cheap that x15 is. Only thing is it's a D4 and mine is a D2 so I would have to strap a couple amps and run them on separate amps. Otherwise I think I may try to get something from there. Also saw an sa12 for under 100 dollars. Holy crap that's incredible.

the thing with those yard sales is you get what you pay for. everything on the yard sale is a defected product. that's why they sell them so cheap
Have you even owned one? Buddy on CACO has a ZV.4 15 that still running good till today. Majority are cosmetic defects, you can even go to the reviews page majority had good working woofers. The amount people that actually received a bad woofer is extremely low and Jacob gives nice deals on recone kits for them too.

I read the disclaimers he wrote on there. I was interested until I saw that. idk maybe its just me, my equipment has to be brand spankin new or it just dosnt feel right. I have yet to pop the cherry on these havocs

in the world of car audio with all the kooks and dumb*sses disclaimers like that are a must.

See my avatar? The sub on the right is from the yardsale. Wanna know what's defected? A large amount of glue around the outside dia of the spider. That's it. I tested the coil and it's shiny and works. Plus it was cheaper then the sub on the right which is a refurb.

Go ahead and complain about paying cheap for what people get. But in the long run its the amount of money me and the rest of the people that saved from those yard sales vs. brand new.

I don't see any other company offering yardsales other than Skar. Do you?

I think of it this way. I'm on a budget so even if I had to recone a sub from that sale It would still be cheaper then brand new. I want to go for that X-15 before it's gone but I think it would be easier to power them off one amp instead of 2 and that will not happen with too different coils being 4ohm and 2ohm

Id run the two XFL 12s rather than that single 15.The XFLs get down in a good enclosure and decent power
I would do this as well. Two XFL's would hit mid to high 140s in a low tuned box and they actually sound pretty good (i've demoed a few XFL builds and the sound good, especially for the price and considering how loud they get).

X series is good but I don't believe they are ideal for daily drivers (they are a lowend monster that fizzle in the mid to upper bass). As a result the X series that are more daily driver orientated have the SPL cone (you can have sundown custom make it with the SPL surround, it will shine better in the 40-65hz range which is good for daily music).

X3 I've done a few builds with both these drivers and the XFL's would give you a better range with more authority.
