1 18" Lv 5 or 4 12" SDC2's

Off of 2500 watts which would be louder? 1 18" DC lv 5 18 or 4 12" SDC2's? I know cone area matters but one is a 2000 watt sub and the others are 500.

AQ's are 600 watts. It all matters on your enclosure and electrical. I would go with 4 12"s because it should take up just as much space or a little more than a single 18.

I was on the same boat as you but my choices were 1 18" Level 5 or 4 Alpine Type R 12"s. I picked the 4 12's

i think a LVL 5 would want more.

yeah cone area plays a big role when u r comparing 4 motors to 1, the 4 should be louder unless u do crappy install, and even then its still should be louder

The only reason I ask this is because I have 2 DC level 4 12s in a 4.0 box tuned to 33 hz and they were not as loud as my 15" BTL off of the same power. BTL box was the same specs. The 12's have more cone area but did not put out the same amount of bass as the 15. Thats why Im skeptical to go with low power 12's vs 1 insane 18. Thanks for your help. Id like to see what you have too Ridin Clean, maybe we can meet up sometime.

Yes both would be sub up port back. I was going to do 8cubes for the 18 or 10 for the 4 12s

well i think the cone area will win out, your talking 4 12's = 452 vs. 1 18 =254, thats a big difference, 1 15 = 176 vs. 2 12's = 226, this is not as big of a difference so therefor the install mainly the box will be the difference for 1 15 vs 2 12's.

odd, id go a lil smaller box on the 18 and 4 12s.

maybe 6 for the 18

and 8+ for the 12s

4x 12's.. cone area.. plus the sdc's are like 92db sensitivity... i've read that they are almost as loud as the hdc's.. dunno where, or from who but....

I believe DJL said himself that they were as loud up to about 1kw, then the HDC would start to take over. I could be wrong, it's been a while.
