(1) 18" Fi BTL vs (2) 15" Fi Q's *PICS*

thanks bud

and yes as people are saying, the BTL can handle a ton of abuse, and 2250 is not even getting close to abusing it.

I would just give it a new amp and see how it is after that.

if you never clamped the amp, you cant say its actual power. i would doubt its over 1500 rms.......is for the box, that other build you were talking about he didnt use areo ports. pvc doesnt count. buy 6 inch ports and it will wang if built right
Ahh yesm your right it was PVC, ok I'm going to research Aero Ports in a sub up ports back design. Any input on how many for the previous sub up port back design I just posted?

My bad about saying the amp was 2257rms, I was just going off of what the birthsheet from when they tested it at the factory said. What would be the proper steps be to see what the amp is really putting out?

Isn't your sundown rated at 1500rms? How would that put out more then an amp thats benchtested to put out 2257rms? That's a hellova underating sundown does on there amps. Would you still advise to get more power on the sub then what I have on it now even if I'm going to build my next box almost 2 cubes bigger then this one....

This 7 year old camera Im using doesnt do that much justice for it, it actaully looks like it has alot more excursion then this when watching it live. This weekend Ill get a really accurate vid of the excursion with this....

it's the 11th post...

If anything I'll get another vx2200D and strap them, although I havnt even looked into this so I'm not sure if that would even work out with the voicecoil config of the sub being a dual 2 ohm.

get a kicker kx2500
2700+ watts guaranteed

LOL, great amp, but not 1ohm stable for daily, or is it?

with aero ports is you can cut the lengths down for tuning, or stuff a port etc.....there very easy to work with, and i think the loudest with the least turbulence. all of my teammates run them and have great success. the new designed box looked great, ditch the l port and stuff some percision ports in. call it a day and wang

LOL, cool. I'm hyped about Aero ports. I've only used them once in a HT install with a 10"JLw3. I used the 4"aero port to tune the 2.3 cuft box to 26hz and it had a clean deep sound to it. You think (4) 6" ports for the the design below be sufficiant...

4 6" areo ports would be ~113 sq in of port //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

to get great bass / sub bass from 60 down to 25 hz, with authority and accuracy (not some songs souding great and others sounding bad) but everything you play being as good as it can be, requires something special.

sure ports help get more output but at the expense of what?

i dont know if your sub will work in a sealed box (dont run away) but if i were you, i would see if you can listen to a killer uber sub in a sealed box with 2 x the reccomended power on 'tap'

i have run bandpass boxes (sealed basically) for 10+years.

regularly my breath is taken away by the uber lows on some recordings (from rap to rock and everything in between)

sure there are systems out there that are much louder than me but i will put money down that my bass rig (orion 2500d and a jl12w7, bandpass) will convert most ported box fans to sealed fans.

and,

if you really wanted it to be louder you can go with 2 orions and 2 w7s or keep going.

i have never been near an spl mic, and have no idea if im doing 111 dbs 125 or 143?

but on the way home from work today i was listening to e-40 my ghetto report card and i could feel the lowest of the low notes on the cd in my bowels and toes, even my ears were feeling like i was in an aeroplane de and re pressureising? windows open in a mini van.

if you have sat in a ride with 2500+ wrms on a good sub in a sealed box then you have an idea of what it can sound like, if you havent and your switching and swapping boxes and subs to try and find the bass your wanting, ?

try a sealed / bandpass box with a great sub and a lot of power.
