I need advice please, no flammers or bs please. I have a modded MTX 1501d (1800watts @ 1 ohm), should I get 1 18" RE XXX, or 2 15" Type R's, or 3 12" Type R's? All will be in a ported box, probably tuned to 30hz, space not an issue. For everyday use what will sound the loudest? I know this forum is split between RE and Alpine so let's hear it.

The 1501 is 2 ohm stable boss not 1 ohm. But I could be wrong.

Based upon theory alone, the (2) 15's would be loudest. Here's why:

(1) 18 = 1210 cm^2 of cone area

(2) 15's = 1620 cm^2 of cone area

(3) 12's = 1260 cm^2 of cone area

This assumption would only be correct though if all the woofers were of the same make and model (i.e. they would have the same x-max). The thing you should remember though is that getting loud is all about install and testing. Good luck and I hope you do well.

That means nothing. Just because you have more cone area or Xmax doesn't equate to loudness. They may or may not have the POTENTITAL to move more air, but that's it.

I'd go with the 3 12's simply because you will probably have a lot easier of a time fitting them in your vehicle than 2 15's or an 18. Any of those setups would be insanely loud.

I do believe he covered the fact that it was a very general statement by first calling it "Theory" (Theory is an assumption based on basic observation and knowledge and in no way equates to law). He then further solidified that there are many other important factors with the following "The thing you should remember though is that getting loud is all about install and testing".

I read his post as nothing more than a perfect world generalization, not as a definitive answer to his question. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

1x18 box would be easy to build expecially with a low tuning like that, and the xxx rocks the house.

be ready to drop around 425 for the woofer though.

and if it wasn't loud enough you couldget another of the same amps and strap it on the other voice coil, i dont think you could put two of those amps on 2x15 type r's
