1 15" or 2 12"s (with a spin)

what will get louder, all things being equal. i understand the idea of cone area but have no idea how to apply it.

anyway,

what's louder:

1)

2 12" getting 1000 total rms

1 15" getting 1000 total rms

2)

2 12" getting 1000 total rms

1 15" getting 1500 rms.

There is no way to ****ing tell. The enclosure will have more of an effect than the power will and we have no idea what type of enclosures are available nor do we know the kind of subs. Wow...

for a 3db gain you need to double cone area or power.

2 12's at teh same power as 1 15 will still move more area due to cone area

ok i get this, but the 2 12s are getting 500 rms each, whereas the 15 is getting 1000 total. that is where my confusion lies.
