1-12 running both voice coils, or 2-12 running one voice coil??

Removed both subs, wired per Fosgate diagram and ended up with a 6 ohm load per sub, 3 ohm with both... hmmmmm. Checked twice...same results. Louder than one running both coils and more accureate and smoother than 2 running one coil Interior lights not dimming at same volume.... Thanx again.

Also running Infinity kappa 6.5 components front, kappa 6.5 co-ax in rear from a Fosgate 50x4.... from a kenwood Excelon head unit.

yup running 1 VC on a 2 VC sub will make the sub prematurely fail. Might not happen in a month but sooner than if you ran it on both VC.
That is 100% untrue. Not sure where you heard it...but you heard completely wrong.

The Ascendent Atlas is a prime example. Essentially all that subwoofer is is a dual voice coil subwoofer, only instead of powering both coils they only have you power one and use the other as a means to adjust the Qes (which you can do with any DVC). So, by your logic, the Atlas is inherently prone to premature failure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/waycrazy.gif.f4a380c3f94043939fd369defd9e6be2.gif

However, as was mentioned...it is not recommended to only run one voice coil on just any ole sub as the parameters of the subwoofer will change significantly, and things like the recommended enclosures sizes will no longer be accurate. But physically it is possible to do with no damage, premature failure or otherwise.
