It's a shame I've got all this perfectly cut and terminated wire laying around and nobody is using it... here's how this works.

Pop your hood, and guestimate the lengths of the follow 3 cables:

1. Alt output to battery positive.

2. Battery negative to chassis.

3. Chassis to engine block.

An easy way to get a close measurement is to take a small piece of string or wire and lay it where the wire will go. Cut it with a pair of scissors to the length you need it to be. Do this once for each of the three cables above, and measure their length in inches.

Once you know the lengths you need, refer to the list at the bottom of this post and find the closest cable that will work for your installation. If you are in doubt, go with the next size up cable because you can always route the cable another way and tie it up out of the way. Some cars can be done for $25 or less plus a little bit of your time... some cars will take more.

Probably not for the alt to batt, but you might want to choose a couple smaller sizes for your ground runs... take a look at the list and let me know!

I got an 85 non SS. You need about 8-10 feet. I might have pix of mine somewhere.

What equipment you gonna use for it? I already have a 200 amp mechman and the big 3 is done in 2/0 wire.

Gonna eventually upgrade the alternator as I'll soon be running 2 amps...where do you find them? I really only have bought out of Summit and Jegs and didn't see much except a Powermaster for like 250 bucks. What am I looking at price wise for the wiring?

Powermaster really only offers performance related items now... the XS Power alternators are what you want to be looking at for audio purposes... much more power and built to handle the abuse of big amps!

Let me know what legth wires you need between your alt and batt, between the batt and ground, and between engine and ground. I can get you a price ASAP!
