0ga big 3 fuse

size depends on the fuse holder and the fuse needs to be at the battery. 100A would be fine. the sizes recommended above by mylows are also fine. note it's a parallel path to the stock power wire from the alt so each wire only sees roughly half of the alt output. personally, i prefer a fuse sized for the expected usage so it blows faster in case a short happens.

the fuse is protecting the battery.

that makes sense. 0awg was clearly overkill //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif I have only 1 amp(kicker zx1500.1) and with stock alt current will be low I think.

so 100A - 150A would be fine I guess?

Some people say fuse needs to be at alt... But fuse at the battery makes sense too. Ex: An accident and wire comes loose from alt and touches metal. If no fuse at the batt, battery=boom! right?

But what if wire is cut from half and touches metal. Alt will catch on fire?
