had it hooked up in my car for about 1 year, then i just quickly pulled the power cord fuse to quick unhook the sub and run some nicer wire to it. I put the fuse back in after all of that and smoke starts rolling out of the amp, i quickly pull the fuse hoping to god nothing happend. i double triple checked everything to make sure it was right...and i put the fuse back in and the amp goes straight to protection. I pulled the cover off and it was a little crispy right where power and ground go in. Anyone know what happed here or maybe how i could fix this cheaply?

Heres a crappy cell pic of where it happened

kicker told me that for them to fix mine it would just cost me as much as a new one and he even said personally if he was me he would look into another brand than kicker

That sounds like total b.s.

I just had my zx2500 repaired BY kicker and it cost me $100 total, including shipping.

To the OP, you're gonna have to send in the amp to kicker and have them take a look at it. It is going to need to be repaired, that's for sure. Luckily for you kicker repairs their amps in-house and are VERY reasonable on the costs.

Yep, it was my fault too.

First and only time I've had a problem with it since I got it in 2006.

But for how many amps they sell, I wonder what their return rate is. Of course there's going to be some problems out there.

Hell, sundown sells 1/100th the amount of amps that kicker does and I hear about their amps getting repaired all the time. Does that mean the products ****?

Not saying that problems don't happen.

I just disagreed with your "cheaper to buy a new amp" and "buy some other brand" comments.

For some reason I find it very hard to believe that somebody who works for kicker would tell you to buy another brand.
