Anyone have specific experience with 2006 model 15" L7's and an orion 2500d?

I got my L7's on Tuesday, got them in 4.5 foot^3 net, each, tuned to 42hz, and they're hooked up to my bxi2006d. I'm actually in awe of how little that amp is moving them... I've got my gains set correct, bass boost is off, the 42hz peak is more than enough bass boost for me already, but the overall output is quite disappointing, and my #1 suspect is the hifonics, i'm sad to say....

And i speak from experience, as far as expecting a LOT more output from these subs, i had a single 2002 model 15" L7 in 4.5cf back in the day, tuned to ~40hz, and that single sub moved a LOT more, and made a LOT more noise than both of the 15's i have now. i had it hooked up to a boss 3000d, which as everyone's well aware, is a lanzar vibe 1200d, so the sub was getting 1200 watts rms, and now they're each probably getting ~850 from the bxi. Don't get me wrong, they're already louder than my type-x's, but i wouldn't have traded a set of beautiful type-x's in for L7's to gain a LItTLE output, i'm definitely going for retarded loud bass with this setup.

So naturally, i'm thinking more power. I'm curious if anyone has experience with a pair of 15" L7's running off an orion 2500d, or if anyone has experience pushing MORE than 1250rms each to L7's. I'm already bummed i have to buy more power, so i def. want to make sure my next amp is the last one i need for a long long long time.

I just wanted to hear how much power people have put to these 2006 L7's, because the 1000w rms rating on kicker's website is def. way underrated, these 2006's seem like they want a hell of a lot more power than the older models.

So if you had to buy ONE, or a pair of amps, to seal the deal for a pair of 15" 2006 L7's, what would you buy? Once again,i'm looking for the most power the L7's will handle with correct tuning daily, not burps, want to set my gains and ssf correctly, let them break in to the new power, and be able to use them every day.

I thought the bxi2006d was enough for the job, and now i don't know what to do. Please help me!

And also, is there a way for me to figure out if i'm underpowering my amp as it is? My light don't dim, but they're HID's, so they've got capacitors, so that's not a good indication.

What's the easiest way to find out if i'm getting full potential out of my current setup, before i invest more in an amp (although i think it's inevitable, the L7's want a LOOOOT more)

Forgot to mention, the sq of these new L7's has definitely surpassed my expectations, and i've even owned one before!!!

Actually knowing what box sizes and tuning mean definitely made a big big difference for me. And i'm also really suprised at how little transient response and low-end i've lost going from 2 12" type-x's tuned 30hz to the 15's tuned 42hz. The subs play every note on intergalactic by the beasties, which my x's couldn't, for some reason, and can even keep up with quick note changes, like on 'what you know' by T.I. I'm really impressed at how much these L7's have improved over the years as far as SQ. I think anyone who complains about L7 sound quality should check a 2006 out in a good box, cause i've never heard one sound this good.

Now if i could just get this SPL under control, i'll be in great shape.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

what resistence do you have the amp wired to? have you trieed wiring it up to only i L7? from waht i have been reading the 06" L7s can handle up to 2000 watts rms! that may be why its not what you expected. each sub is only get ~1000 watts rms.

Well, alright. Today i figured out i've been living in a fantasy land.

My car has a 120amp alty, and today i did some searching, and figured out that my alternator's not even close to pumping out 2000rms, not to mention my a/c, other accessories, hid headlights, and he 350+ rms watts going to my door speakers.

I got overzealous when i chose my equipment, because i used to have a 2001 VW Jetta with a diesel engine, which came with a 90 amp alternator, but used ~10% of it, since a diesel uses no electricity to run the car, besides recharging the batt. Which explains why my old L7 was so much louder, a 90 amp alty, which is almost completely free will make the full 1200rms of my old boss 3000d, but my 120amp alty, which was probably 60% used by existing toys in the car's not putting nearly enough juice to my hifonics.

So this one lies on me, before anything else, i need to get myself an alty rewind, and see what this amp, and these subs can really do.

Thanks for your input, guys.

And yes, i tried hooking up one L7, and it was about the same volume as both of the L7's when they were both hooked up, so that's what made me ponder an undercurrent problem at my amp. And also, today once i figured out i was defnitely underpowering my amp, i cut my gains to 1/2 the proper setting, and the bass is actually louder now, so electrical problem seems to be my biggest enemy right now.
