I just bought a 06 Jetta. Love the car,hate the stereo. I wanted to install a new hu but I found out that the car's ecu is also connected to the hu.I was told that if a different hu was installed that the dealer would not be able to pull codes from the car. Then I decided to use JL Cleansweep.Well, the volume knob on oem hu is digital and has no numbers to identify volume level. According to JL's website to volume on the hu has to be set at the same level all the time becuase the processor on the Cleansweep only fixes the signal at on set volume. You have to reset the Cleansweep each time the volume changes on the oem hu.Its not self adjusting. Has anyone here done an install on a 06 jetta or gti?Please help.

I've never heard of taki'n out the HU and not being able to pull codes from the car!? I don't see why they would ever do that lol. But I could be wrong

You need to install the factory radio elsewhere.

Sad but true.

Most people move them to the trunk, there's a full wiring harness in the back drivers' side storage box.
