04 honda pilot

I have an 04 honda pilot and I'm going to be installing two 10" subwoofers in it with a new HU and amp. My question is that I was told that the factory subwoofers would not work if I installed a new head unit. I was just wondering if anyone here knew what the factory subwoofer is and it's power/what powers it. Also, this may be a stupid question but how do you get the wiring from the head unit to the back of the car in the trunk?
