Being that it's Saturday and RE isn't open, I wanted to get opinions/info from you guys and David at RE ASAP. I have the "old" XXX15 and it needs a recone. I was thinking of getting it reconed with the MT cone and soft parts...what do you guys (and David) think? I wanted to know ASAP because I have a chance to buy the TC Sounds Uberwoofer if the price is right. Compared to the xxx15, how do you think the xxx/mt hybrid would stack up? Thanks

depends on what you are looking for....

ive never had a XXX but the Uber with MT parts was clean and loud as hell, but the true uber has less cone area, but more throw. it also gets lower than both. The uber wont be too loud playing notes above 60MT and the MT would still destroy above that mark. Its a toss up really, and it all begins with knowing what you are looking for.

Primarily, I'm looking for loud, clean, and very low. I would like to be able to extend down to 25hz if I feel the need //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif but I also want to be "lose your breath" loud @35hz or so. I had my xxx15 in me jeep and hit a 145.7 @45hz...I would like to be around the same (only lower frequency), but now I have a Honda Accord Coupe. I could really care less above 60hz...that's what midbass is for

What do internet n00bxs not get?

The motor is what determines the sound, A LOT...

The XXX and MT shar the same coils, XXX has single Soft spider... the MT has 3-4 stiff spiders...

Also, an Uber with MT soft parts sounded good... b/c it is essentially still and uberwoofer... same size coil... possibly different spider configuration.

[01:55] NickWright: 3" is King dog

[01:56] ngbd13: werd

[01:56] NickWright: The 3" can take that power if you build the sub right

[01:56] ngbd13: that's what I figured... it is obviously due to your design as well //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'm not an internet noob. I'm just curious . Obviously the motor has A LOT to do with the sound, but the cone has something to do with it also as does the surround, etc.

Just because you throw MT soft parts on a XXX motor, doesn't mean it'll sound like an MT.
The motor on the MT is MUCH stronger than the motor on the XXX.
Who said it was gonna sound like an MT? I asked how it would sound, I never suggested anything

HAHAHA, that makes me laugh.

Consider All upper RE woofers...

SE, SX, XXX, MT... use the same exact cone/surround...

n00bx. Just proved your ignorance of subwoofer topology...

Also, I told you in the above post what it would do...
