my friend has an 01 sunfire. she bought the following shit from some douchebags who said they knew how to hook it up but didnt.

Xplod 500w xm-504z 4/3 channel

2 10” jvc 400w 4ohm

and some sony hu that seems pretty nice.

they pulle out her stock radio and cut all the wires, so im in the process of mending that, but now i have the problem of the subs. i dont know much about jvc shit, and i dont like xplod, and on top of that i dont know much about impedance...so i was wondering if there is any specific way i should run the wires.

thanks in advance.

IMO...you dont have enough experience or knowledge to be repairing
anything.
you dont know me.

i have done this type of stuff for a while now but i still havnt taken the time to learn about ohm loads. the wiring in the dash is fixed, i just need to go pick up some butt connectors. all i need help with is wiring down 2 10" 4ohms for this amp.

i dont know for sure, but wouldn't i wire it parallel to wire it down to 2ohms? im sorry but your opinion holds nothing here because you have nothing to base your opinion on. yes i come on here and ask questions about electrical every once and a while, but the questions ask are about things that are out of the ordinary because the cars i usually work on have some hack job or something from people who ****ed with it before me.

im not saying im an expert, i just want to save her the money and the trouble of taking it to the shop. i figured posting a question here would solve my problem of not knowing exactly how to wire it, and save me the time and trouble of blowing the subs or something if i wired it wrong.

thats what i was thinking.

all the times u have had trouble with ur shit and u wanna try to fix some1 elses lol
i have had 2 problems with my shit.

1 was when someone i trusted was working on my shit while i was busy, and they cut my stock. i fixed it. the other problem was installing my other hu, i asked a question because my stock wiring is different than anything i have worked on before.

2 problems compared to all the shit i have installed or fixed when someone else installed and ****ed up is nothing. again im no expert, which is why i ask for help but at least io have common sense enough to ask when i dont know and not just hack away at the stock wiring..and the funny part is, after they hacked it they hooked it up wrong and didn't match up the colors right:p://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

so i had the new hu runnning when the stock was still hacked and electrical taped up.

i thought it would be a better idea to have it connected with butt connectors, so i had my friend hook it all up and to the eye it seems to be right. so we got the amp wired up, and i wired the subs up, and then when i westart the went to start the car, it started and wouldnt stay running. it shut off immediatley. i didnt know what the problem was, so i disconnected the power wire from the battery. i still got the same problem. after a few minutes of walking around in circles and *****ing, i decided that there was nothing i did that was wrong. then i looked at the wiring my friend did. it was all wired correctly, and nothing appeared to be wrong. but i figure what the **** and unhooked the wiring harness. then the car started. so i hooked it back up. no starty. then i unhooked again and it started, but when i hooked it all back up it worked. i realized this little blue box thing that came with the harness was not hooked up. i turned the car off, and hooked up the blue box, and no starty again.

now the problem, when we had the wires with electrical tape, we wired up the harness, and it worked. then my friend hooked up the butt connectors, and no power to hu.

im thinking that maybe one of the wires got disconnected from the harness??

flame away if you feel its necessary.

i didnt have much time to go over the wiring my friednd did because the chick had to leave, but from what i saw all the colors were matched and the wires were snug in the butt connectors.

the thing that bothers me is that the blue box that came with the wiring harness should not be causing the car not to run?? im not to sure what it is or what it does, but when we had it all running on the hack job, the blue box beeped when the door was open and such...idk

im going to look at it tomorrow so if anyone knows about newer gms and what the blue box does exactly that would help.

sounds like you dont know much more then them other than reading about brands on a forum
and where do i prove i know shit about brands? if i learned about brands from this forum id be pimping out fi or dd.

never said i was an expert, just saying i have common sense. and common sense told me that the people who cut her stock wiring harness didn't know what they were doing. common sense also told me if i asked for help on a car audio forum, i would receive it.

however, i did forget to factor in that ppl here flame more than they help.

If it starts and dies you have activated the pass-lock security system. Its the stock security system in GMs.
what would have made it activate?

I found out when we went to buy the wiring harness that in the newer sunfires alot more than just the radio is ran through these wires. Thats why we needed the blue box http://cgi.ebay.com/-Scosche-DCGM09-Car-Stereo-Wiring-Harness-for-GM-_W0QQitemZ270246344398QQcmdZViewItem?IMSfp=TL0806141521r25018

the problem we had was when the blue box peice was hooked up correctly the car start and turn right off like i said. so how would this interfere?

**** guys you need to chill.. This guy never said he was an expert, hes helping his friend and learning at the same time.. Dont bag on him your giving CA a bad name.. Anybody can ask questions on here noobs or experts thats how they learn.

Heres a wiring diagram for your stereo http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/stereodetail/1897.html Its for a 2000 but should be the same. Wire up your stereo and then see what other wires you have back there. Hopfully you can match and figure it out. Also try looking on that site for more info on the wires back there. Site has hella info.

thanks got_bass.

yeah they chopped her stock, so all we had to do was line up the colors because he didn't chop at or near the ends, he cut a few inches down so there was still enough attached to the plug where we could strip and butt connect.

i don't think the stock wiring is the problem, but when she has the time im going to cut all the connectors and do them again because my friend only knew how to use the butt connectors from watching me, and i want to make sure it's done right.

Then again, the stock radio didn't work after i disconnected the wiring harness so it must be the stock wires....hmm

im gonna call her and see when she has time to do it, then ill let you know what happens
