I'd do an all JL setup in a heart beat (no HU of course). Maybe Alpine, but I'm not to sold on their amps. I'm a Kicker man myself, technically I've never personally owned any subs but Kicker.

Last I checked, he was EXTREMELY happy with his setup and beating his friends 15" L7 and 15" XXX in SQ and SPL. Sounds like he spent his money wisely to me. Better to spend $1,500 on a setup you are in love with than $600 on one your disappointed in.

The problem is Doug is saying that a JL amp puts out stronger and smoother sound than a JBL. He doesn't realize it makes no sense. His statement still relies on the theory of an amp having more "quality" watts than another. He's just saying it another way and not realizing it. Its like...

Quite frankly, there is a list of about 10-15 subs easy that match your criteria. It will ALL come down to how precisely you coordinate box and install design. What I always say is get the sub that matches your SQ needs, but always get one that can get louder than what you think you'll need...
