Thanks for the help, I know the amp was not overpowering that sub. It was a Sony XM-504x wired to tri-mode. So at best it was getting maybe a 100 watts RMS. I guess the installer messed up. I will take yor advice and look for an amp that does 200-250 RMS in 2 ohm and wire it like your first...

Yeah, silly me to forget...but the sub was in a small Q-logic custom enclosure and it literally blended in with the interior of the vehicle. And i never drive her truck. I think I will go pull it out now and have a look. Any amp suggestions?
