Friends' Amp overheating and blew a fuse after about 30 minutes of play

Was the car running? If the battery was being drained, and the voltage was dropping, the amperage draw would go up.

I already tried running directly to the battery.

    fuse help!

    So you have a 60amp fuse running to 2 50amp fuses? At 100% efficiency: @12v you would be drawing 42amps+25amps = 67amps @14v you would be drawing 36amps+21amps = 57amps

    Few Questions from n00b

Unplug the remote wire on the amp side and see if it turns off. If it does, your remote is wired wrong.

    High-Pitched Whine

OK I made 2 muting plugs and plugged them into my amp and it didn't change anything. Same sound with no RCAs, RCAs to headunit, and with muting plug RCAs.

I tried running a ground all the way to the battery and it still makes the noise.

    Poor install

Its more important to run big power wires than signal wires. The signal is AC, therefore there is less loss over a distance. Bigger wire doesn't hurt though 16ga-8ga is sufficient from amp to sub. I wouldn't waste my time running anything smaller than 4ga for power.

    High-Pitched Whine

I bought a Memphis 16-MCD500 amp from marcusb419er and I'm getting a high-pitched whine. He said its probably my ground but my ground seems fine. Its wired @2ohm to a single Alpine Type-R 12 in a sealed 3/4MDF box. I have 4ga wire running from the battery to the amp and 4ga running from the...

    Newb wiring question

He's got a 50Wx4 HU and an amp running at 2x100W RMS. His speakers are only 6-75W RMS, does that mean the speakers are gonna like blow above 1/2 volume or can he turn it up as loud as he wants no problem?
