Variance of Sub Specs - 4ohm vs 8ohm - Same Manufacture and Series Line; Possible?

Comments from my Bob Carver friend: "Looking at the specs, the eight ohm looks more appealing. Higher bl, lower fs, qts is a touch lower . The vas is showing this is made for a small box because there is a lot of stiffness in the suspension so it takes a high power amp to get things moving."...

Variance of Sub Specs - 4ohm vs 8ohm - Same Manufacture and Series Line; Possible?

My thoughts exactly, after spending countless hours looking all different brands of subs. It just didn't add up, that this one company had such a variance. Thanks for your input.

Variance of Sub Specs - 4ohm vs 8ohm - Same Manufacture and Series Line; Possible?

I'm starting to think nobody has a clue on how to answer my question. I've been told by a friend, who is friends with Bob Carver, that *it is possible* for a 8 ohm sub to have specs so different from the 4 ohm version. I just thought maybe someone could shed a different perspective.

Correct and the key word you used is *space*. I realize ported can hit low, but it takes space to achieve, plus your dealing with a -12db per octave slope. I like seats and steering wheels to shake at 15hz.

Variance of Sub Specs - 4ohm vs 8ohm - Same Manufacture and Series Line; Possible?

Hello fellow members. I'll start off by telling you that I've been in *car audio* and *home theater* for about 27 years now. I've worked as a car audio installer in two shops back in my younger years, when I was living a dream of hopefully making a career of it, but commuting killed me. I was...
