    FS: BB1350.1 good power!*!**!

hmm.. Would this amp be recommended with a single SA-15 600w series? Seems a bit overpowered but I know sundowns usually like power * B-Stock* Sundown Audio SA-15 600W SA Series - Car Audio Bargain

    Wiring Help

^^This. I'd be willing to bet the staging would be better as well.

    Decided to build a system.

Door panels look pretty sweet. I've never taken that plunge on any of my builds. Did you get the sub installed?

Box design for sundown x12s in semi truck sleeper

I would put one on each side and angle them out a bit, and have the port coming out of the middle. Heres a quick picture and stat sheet of what i'm talking about. I included bracing displacement for doubling up the baffle, the front, and the sides.

Amp protect when volume is turned up

sounds like it doesn't like the pre-amplified signal. also you have an underpowered amp for that sub so it's trying to draw more current than the amp wants to give.

    SA X-18 ported - 7 cubes @ 32hz

I get that you can't hear a 2 or 3hz difference in tuning, either way the octo would have to be external for this box as it sits so it makes even less difference.

    SA X-18 ported - 7 cubes @ 32hz

I'm sure he could come up with a better design. I'll ask nicely once I have the seats out and the base in so I have exact dimensions.

    SA X-18 ported - 7 cubes @ 32hz

He didn't argue, he said I was right but that he hasn't seen any audible difference. I can appreciate that. Just funny that multiple people say that he was right to begin with without letting him respond with that in the first place which would have avoided the drama. I should have clarified my...

    SA X-18 ported - 7 cubes @ 32hz

I don't consider pvc the same as an aero port and I didn't say I was using an aero port. My original specs were high even for a pvc port i realized that after. My only argument was that you shouldn't use the same dimensions for a circular port as an octo but w/e. It's only a difference in a few...

    SA X-18 ported - 7 cubes @ 32hz

Further, the airspace displaced by a 19" octo with 9.5 i.d. would be .93 cu ft The airspace displaced by a 19" aero port with 9.5 i.d. would be .78 cu ft pretty significant difference...

    SA X-18 ported - 7 cubes @ 32hz

They have different formulas for area. Like I posted before = port area of an octagon with 9.5" i.d. = 63.45.. Port area of a circle with a diameter of 9.5 = 70.88 Octos also have thicker walls than aero ports so you would need the o.d. of the octo to subtract the airspace. Again i'm sure he...

    SA X-18 ported - 7 cubes @ 32hz

I'm sure he knows more about building boxes than I ever will, but basing the tuning of an octo off the diameter of a circle is wrong.

    SA X-18 ported - 7 cubes @ 32hz

port area of an octagon with 9.5" i.d. = 63.45.. Port area of a circle with a diameter of 9.5 = 70.88 He clearly used the circle dimensions as shown here. With octagon dimensions you end up with a lower ratio, less airspace due to thicker walls, and higher tuning. I would have gladly accepted...

    SA X-18 ported - 7 cubes @ 32hz

my last box was fiber-glassed to the floorboard so that it would fit under the seat and maximize airspace so i'm no stranger to the humps. The sides of the "box" where the seats will be won't be part of the airspace, but they may have port(S) running through them. The plan is to make the seats...

    SA X-18 ported - 7 cubes @ 32hz

You are using the diameter of a circle to draw these conclusions which is absolutely wrong.
