    Need help wiring components!

Gotcha. So I guess I will use the 600/4 after all. Sounds good. I appreciate all of the help. So I really don't need to use the speaker wires coming from the headunit, right? I just run the speaker wire from the amp to the speaker, and it should work fine, right?

    Need help wiring components!

Alright, so I think I've figured out how to wire the components... I'm not sure how to run it off the headunit... not sure what wires go where to make the crossovers work, so I'm going to run it to the amp... Actually, if I we're to run them off the headunit, what wires go to the crossovers? Do...

    Need help wiring components!

Right now the 6.5's are running off the h/u... I haven't installed the bass blockers yet. I purchased them because the speakers we're getting too many low frequencies and it was sounding distorted/rattling my doors off. Would it be better to run the components off the Directed 300/2 and then run...

    Need help wiring components!

I've got a set of Alpine Type X component speakers. Right now, only the 6.5's are installed, and they are wired using the factory wiring. I've got 600hz bass blockers to keep any bass from going to them, but I've heard I need to wire the crossovers anyway... Heres the system specs... Type R...

    Wiring Up Comps

So just wire it up to the crossover instead of the H/U? Will the only thing going to the H/U are the RCA's?

    Wiring Up Comps

I've got a set of Alpine Type X components... I've got a spare American Pro 600w 4 channel amp VS1405. I'm wanting to get rid of the distorted sound that the speakers are making, and know it's important to have the crossovers hooked up. If I run the amp to the preouts on the cd player, do I...

Bass Blockers - Good or bad?

Just to clarify really quick... I'm running the 6.5's off the H/U. Even off the H/U, it's really making some nasty rattling noises. The rear deck has two 6x9's that don't work. Not sure if I can make the 6.5's fit or not, but that REALLY might be a good idea. Will the 6.5's fit in the space left...

Bass Blockers - Good or bad?

I've just got done installing my Directed 300/2 amp, Type R 10, and Type X 6.5's. The Type X 6.5's put out enough bass that it sounds scratchy and rattles the rods inside the door. I'm wanting to limit the amount of low bass the speakers receive, however I don't have a seperate amp yet to run...

    Running Crossovers Off Of H/U

Thanks for the tip. Was just about to check them out.

    Running Crossovers Off Of H/U

Hmm that certainly sounds like a great idea, at least until I can get a amp for my speakers. I need to get some sound deadener as well, but I'm sure I can find that in a search.

    Running Crossovers Off Of H/U

I don't have a spare amp to run my Type X comps, but I was wondering if it was possible to run the two crossovers off the h/u's amplifier? I've got the 6.5's, tweeters, and a single type r 10. Not sure exactly how to wire them all up, but that's a different question all together. The H/U is...

Best guage wire to wire subs

Oak244 - That's a nice set of cables. Looks very convenient with both the power and the ground encased together. Heyman421 - Does make sense now that I think about it. I'd say you probably wouldn't need such a low guaged wire if the amp we're really close to the battery.

Best guage wire to wire subs

Does seem to make the install more 'modular'. I was afraid it might limit the power going to the sub, or that it might have a tendency to fail. Thanks for the help!
