I just picked up a us amps md1d,i currently don't have the wiring in my car is there a way to test that the mono channel works?

i have a ported sub box , and i know poly fill is usually used for compact sealed boxes. somewhere on a website i read that poly fill can also be used for ported boxes but im not sure about that so my question is if thats true?

my homeboy got this american bass xd1800 i belive it is, it turns on but puts out no sound. whenever it turns on it just like moves the sub slowly then nothing, i opened it up and 1 of those black lookin bottles i belive there called capacitors is blown can anyone tell me if the amp can be fixed...
