Looking for a new head unit

Well, keep the tradition and go with a Pioneer 80prs. You can buy them for a little more than that from eBay at least. It's probably one of the most affordable sound quality units. As for built in sound processing, I am sure it has all the functions you could ask for and possibly more.

What subs are best at what?

Most subs, including the ones you've mentioned are likely capable of your taste preference. It's all going to be your vehicle and the box. Those two are going to mean everything. An $80 sub is capable of sounding amazing with a little TLC

    Why go Old school?

There have been a lot of good sound responses in here but I can't be arsed quoting them all. There has also been some pretty mislead ones as well. It may be easy to call it nostalgia but I prefer not to call it that. It may seem as though it is nostalgia just because simply you only see a...

    Why go Old school?

PPI, Phoenix Gold, Hifonics ...names like that ...no they don't really have anything great anymore. Some brands now still have an elite series or whatever they wanna call it. But other than that it's all mass produced dookie. I myself have been out of the game so long as well, but I do know...

    Why go Old school?

Fail. There's nothing vague about handcrafting with quality parts and testing them to harsh standards. This is why so many people get mislead about stuff in car audio. But ultimately, it's up to the owner of the car. Back in the 90's, there was not as much China crap at all. Pretty much most...

    Need help with Car System

That's probably because when you remember, that was when it was 250 clean underrated rms USA power. Not the inflated dirty China watts today

    Need help with Car System

True dat. Maybe Chris you might want to look at an amp that is capable of both a stereo and bridged mode off of the two physical channels. Could run the front and back simultaneously giving you a bit more volume up front. I believe the M50's i have do that.

    Need help with Car System

My suggestion to you is to do something like I have mostly done in the past. Build your system by hunting around for good deals on old school stuff. The old school stuff for the most part is better anyways. I used to buy whole systems for about 5-600 bucks. If you are keeping that headunit, just...

    amp watt question regaurding ohms

I had the same dilemma where I could have gotten a couple of dual 4 ohm subs. I declined that offer and went with a couple single 4 ohm voice coil speakers. Your amp will be 2 ohm stereo and 4 ohm bridged. With dual 4 ohm voice coils on your speaker, you would need to run it in either 2 or 8...

    router circle jig.

There's lots of youtube DiY jig videos out there using wood, plastic etc as your template. That's about the best option without actually buying one.

1 more reason I hate RF

I don't deal with much in the lines of car audio that's made in China. The only item I have that's made in China is these JL audio components. But they're not the lowest end chinese garbage. They're fairly expensive but not bad. That's about the only chance you have at getting something half...

How to get the best audio files

mp3 is the lowest quality. Flac files are huge. If you convert flac files into wave files that is pretty much equal to cd quality. So that is your best option...but it's a little time consuming finding the right flac to wav converter.

1 more reason I hate RF

It used to be. Just like most all brands back in the day. He is who he is. He's just a basshead. SPL kinda dude...he's not exactly an audiophile.
