I'm having the same problem with my car - have a modern VW Passat, 1500w Impulse amp powering 2 12" Impulse subs with a 333w Sony amp powering the front components....... my lights dim too when the volume is blasting - headlights, dash lights etc. Not done the big 3 - car is still in warranty...

My car has at the moment it's standard HU with 6 disc changer. I kept it to keep the look of the dash sleek how it has been designed.... I think the standard HU is made by Blaupunkt, it seems alright, but certainly doesn't have the bells a whistles on that most HU's do. Just wondering how much...

Errr, with current conversion rates about 1p - but we also say "2 pennys worth". I have lots of power - well for me anyway! (1200w). I unfortunately have no speakers in my rear shelf..... it is totally sealed, that was why I was thinking of cutting out some holes to let the sound travel...
