I have JL 500/1, and was looking into purchasing a JL RBC (Remote Bass Control). Just wondering if I would be able to use a different brand (kicker, PG, or Rockford) instead, because these are much cheaper. They all use the same 'phone cord' type of wire. Should these be compatible? Thanks guys!

No, that was one of the first things I checked. Like I said, the power is fine, I regrounded it, and reconnected all of the wires (at the amp and the hu)... None of the warning lights came on.

Would it help if I took a bunch of pictures? I looked over, and cant seem to see anything out of place... nothing is blown up. I will snap some pics later tonight, and maybe someone can take a peek. Thanks for the link.

Well, I have JL Audio 500/1 Amp, running 2 10' subs. The amp was working great, until it all of a sudden went kapoots on me, and stopped fully working. I got a wierd groggy bass coming from the subs when the beats hit... Anyways, I checked all the wiring and volts and waht not, and no success...

I use the voltmeter on the 4guage + / - and it read what it should... the ground wire is grounded where on a self tapping bolt that also grounds my fuel pump, and other amp. its super tight, sanded... shoulndt be a problem. I will try again though if you think that...

Sounds like you have the positive and negative post backwards on your amp. I have done this before, and as soon as I connect the inline fuse... they all go pop! hahha Took me 2 tries to figure it out. That was a while back. Anyways.. if thats not it, make sure you dont have a stray wire...

Bazooka is pretty bad. Some of their tubes have crappy built in amps. It all depends on how much money he wants to spend. I would recommend getting 2 Infinity Kappas... and have them mounted somewhere in the hood/trunk. they dont require a box, as they use free air. Mounted right, they sound great.

Just watned to add, that I hooked one of the subs up to my 4ch amp, and it sounds good. So my problems lies somewhere in the amp... I just dont understand why it would go kapoots so randomly. I wasnt blasting it, or anything. Perhaps I will check my remote wire, and the grounds... but power...

Hey there! This sucks! I have a car meet tomorrow, and my system went kapootz on me. I have 2 10' Orbis Orbs running off of a JL Audio 500/1. I was just driving, listening to my music really low, and all of a sudden the crisp clear bass turned into quiet, groggy bass. It sounds like a trumpet...

Thanks a ton! I will keep everyone updated. The B-Quiet Extreme should help things, and the battery definatly. I wouldnt mind sneaking out without getting the alternator, so I am going to try the batter first.. and maybe a stiff cap... but maybe an investment in the alternator before the cap...
