    Ground Noise and Blown Amps...

I've blown my second TXi1508D in two months. Everything is hooked up properly, though, and I can't find a single thing wrong with it - except for one possibility. Both of my amps are hooked to a distribution block for power and to another for ground. I haven't heard any engine whine in my...

    Clipping Question

I usually play my music at 25-30 (out of 50) on the HU. But again, I even hear the popping noise when I have the music turned down to 1. I have a 7-band EQ which has the 60Hz and 150Hz turned all the way to -5, then it steadily goes up 'til it's at +5 for the 6kHz and 15kHz. I have a separate...

    Clipping Question

See above post for crossover settings. I'm not sure I understand the idea of clipping correctly, but couldn't it still be clipped without being clipped at the amplifer? I.E. the recording itself is clipped? (Which WOULD make me think that I'd hear similar results from my computer speakers when...

    Clipping Question

I've got four Eclipse SE8365s. They are rated at 40w RMS and the amp powering them is a TXi4406, rated at 55w RMS (at 4-ohms, which the speakers are). The high pass is set at 150Hz (the speakers are supposed to handle 90Hz - 40kHz) and the slope is permanently fixed at 12dB. However, this...

    Clipping Question

How do I "hear" clipping? I have a few songs that, when playing, the speakers pop in certain parts - as if someone touched a nine-volt battery to the speaker wire. I thought perhaps it was a short or something, but the popping happens at the same part of the songs every time. I can skip...

    Theoretical vs. Actual ohm load...

I get a zero reading when touching the leads together on ALL of the multimeters I used. All of them read either 2.2 or 2.3 ohms when measuring at the box terminals.

    Theoretical vs. Actual ohm load...

I'll definitely double-check everything in there to make sure it's all wired tight, and while I have it out, I'll check each voice coil as well. Thanks for the advice.

    Theoretical vs. Actual ohm load...

I'm measuring it with a multimeter at the box terminals (one set of terminals on the box, all subs internally wired to it) without external wires connected to the box.

    Theoretical vs. Actual ohm load...

In theory, when I run my three subs (dual 2-ohm voice coils) in parallel with each voice coil being in series (therefore, three 4-ohm loads in parallel), I should have 1.333 ohms as my load. When I bust out the multimeter, however, (and I've tried it with multiple multimeters), I get a reading...
