I guess my question was not so much could it be done, but is it reasonable/ cost effective to convert wall current to DC and if anyone was aware of how I might find such a device.

I got my hands on a set of tower speakers and two older car amplifiers. I am wondering if it is logically/possible/stupid to run these speakers off the amps. My goal is mostly to save spending $200 on a receiver if I can do the same thing for cheap...any thoughts?

I fried the ground loop in my HU and while its in for repair I will put the factory deck back in but they say it could be gone 4-6 weeks. I have the rear speakers running off deck power but my fronts and sub is off the amp. Rather than screw with this wiring, I was thinking I could just hook up...

Haha guys, good guess on the Pioneer HU, that was only part of the problem. The whine happens with no RCA's plugged in so its not from the HU. The amp is grounded to bare metal, I used a teck screw and stripped it so its not like absolutely tight, but its grounded well enough to run...do you...

I have Kicker KS602 components which are rated for 75 W RMS 150 Peak and an Infinity Reference 7540a amp which is putting out 115 W x4. Do I run a significant risk of blowing my speakers by overpowering them? I have another amp that puts 75 W /channel that I could use instead.

its a 98 accord. Anyone ever done this on an accord. While its true that the stock wires got through there...I wonder/worry that I might have to take the door off and take that L shape out of it. Does this seem way too difficult? Cheers

Im trying to hook up my new component speakers and running them off an amp means running wires through the boot in the door. This boot has an l shape and looks nearly impossible to get through. Can I use the original wires? If not any ideas as to how I can get through the L shaped boot. Cheers

Ended up getting Kicker KS602 components and a zr 240 amp.

Two more questions...if I don't choose to go with an amp does the reco of no rear fill still stand? Also, no rear fill means disconnect the stock speakers?

I have Rockford Fosgate sub and ported box, an Infinity Reference 311a Amp and MTX Thunder Dome-Axial 6.5s and an aftermarket Pioneer Deck for my 98 Accord. I bought the Thunder Dome's used and they are mounted for 6x9 spot. What do you guys think will be the best set up. I am currently toying...
