    No sound from head unit

My 10 yr old Alpine head unit is connected to a Clarion equalizer. Today I don't have any sound from my unit. Alpine and equalizer power up and I get a display on the head unit but no sound from radio or CD player. Connections look okay between Alpine and equalizer and fuses are good. (fyi...

Calculating box size for two subs

I can calculate the volume of a box. I have a mechanical engineering degree. Just double the manufacturer's recommended box size (ported) for 1 sub? (Then calculate port size for two sub box size, of course.)

Calculating box size for two subs

Are there any calculators around for designing enclosure specs for two subs (8" ea.)? Haven't found any doing a search.

Seeking 10" SQ on low budget

Yes, they are. They've been a decent addition to my system - just fall a little short. Thanks Jeff and Baby. I think it's time to do things properly now. I'm not looking to shake the car, I'm not a rapper - I need more low end for Black Sabbath, etc.

Seeking 10" SQ on low budget

I've only fooled around with JBL, Infinity, Polk home audio and 10" woofer can produce lower bass w/better quality than 8". Ditto for 12" vs. 10". I don't know the dynamics of two 8"s vs. one 10". I was just asking how that works; two drivers are producing two waves vs. one driver producing one...

Seeking 10" SQ on low budget

Two 8" subs can give you better quality than one 10" and reach just as low as one 10"?

Seeking 10" SQ on low budget

When I had the Big 3 problem it was with my old car - 1998 Sunfire (and I think the battery was 4 yrs old - close to end of its life). I have not tried the Big 3 on my 2002 Grand Am. Sorry for confusion. These are enclosures I have for my 8"s. I molded them to Sunfire rear floor corners. Now...

Removing front seats, 2002 Grand Am

Would like to place sound deadener on the floor. The seat bolts have an unusual head pattern. Where can I find a bit to unscrew the bolts? (I think I bought a smaller bit like this to remove the sunvisors but forgot what the bit is called.)

Seeking 10" SQ on low budget

I'm afraid if I use a sub over 500W I'm going to run into battery issues and I want to avoid that. I have a premium battery (4-cylinder 2002 Grand Am) but my audio system will be around 1000W total and I don't want to risk the electrical system. I tried the Big 3 upgrade several yrs ago and...

Seeking 10" SQ on low budget

They are in separate sealed fiberglass enclosures w/a little fill. Kicker recommends 0.5-1.2 sq ft sealed enclosure per sub (1.2 sq ft providing best SQ and flat response). My boxes are between 1.0-1.2 sq ft each. Driven by Kenwood 7201 (150W RMS @ 4 ohms, 2-channel). Sound is not poor. Output...

Seeking 10" SQ on low budget

I have two 8" Kickers (150W RMS ea.) and want to replace them with one 10" for deeper bass. Would like more output than the 8"s. I listen to classic/heavy rock. Can the tuning frequency be below the driver resonance frequency? Are there any rules to use with respect to the relation of these two...

Seeking 10" SQ on low budget

Looking for 10" for sound quality, preferably 200W-350W RMS and low budget. Saw this MTX Thunder (225W RMS). Thoughts? MTX THUNDER 4500 T4510-04 SPECIFICATIONS Pdf Download.

    Sub specs for enclosure size

Was looking at a 10" Sony XSGTX100LW. Can't find specs to calculate an enclosure size. I contacted Sony for the specs - haven't replied yet. Anyone have any idea what size sealed box? 300W, 1100W peak. And 430W RMS amp should be enough to drive this I suppose...

How much system wattage before running into battery problems?

Yes, I see that 10" subs are scarce at 150W-200W range. I suppose they need more power to drive them than 8" subs. If I upgraded to 10" x 2 subs that would put my battery in jeopardy I think and I don't want to mess with that. I did try the Big 3 upgrade about 6 yrs ago and my battery went dead...

How much system wattage before running into battery problems?

At what power limit would you start to drain your battery too much (eg. standard car, standard alternator, etc.)? I have 4 ADC components (each 100W) and have 2 8" subs (each 150W) and may be looking to upgrade my subs to 10" x 2. My total system could easily reach 1000W total. 1000W could drain...
