IMO, the key here is the amp's remote source. If the remote is still on when the power drops you'll get a thump. It may be as simple as running the remote from the ignition, so it's off when power drops.

I think that's highly unlikely. OEM speakers haven't been grounded since the 70's.

I installed a couple reverb units back in the late 60's when they were a fad. Electromechanical spring things that you put between the radio and rear speaker. Fortunately it was a short lived fad.

I've read that the human male voice can dip into the single digits, like below 10 hz. I remember listening to a guy on the radio once whose voice was so low that as his sentence trailed off the sound would shift from my front stage to the subs in the back. It was spooky.
