    The worst part of deployments

I wish I could say "I feel ya brother" but, I never served. I'm in awe of what you guys give up to allow the likes of me to do what we do... which pales in comparison. Thanks for your service.

Mounting speakers to back of steel dash... Need spacer?

Thanks guys. I'll go with the spacers. I don't want cut the dash (it's a one-off custom) and don't want the speakers in center floor pod - invites theft. The Jeep isn't lockable. I'm trying to keep the stereo as invisible as possible.

Mounting speakers to back of steel dash... Need spacer?

I'm using these Rockford Fosgate 5.25" speakers for the dashboard of my CJ8. The steel dash has 4 threaded studs welded to the back side of the dash. The speaker will fit snug up against the back side of the dash. I went with these speakers because of their low profile tweeter. But, on closer...

Building a "headless system" - skipping the receiver... but how?

HA! just came back here to say "Hey, found this MIL-BTREC Bluetooth adapter at Crutchfield..." So that'll do it? Just connect the RCAs to the amp, wire the adapter for power/ground and pair the iPhone? That would be the perfect solution. From an overall perspective, do you guys think this is an...

Building a "headless system" - skipping the receiver... but how?

Would the inline remote be necessary? Wouldn't the iPhone's volume control suffice? Apple seemed to get that part right - as it functions with most external devices. It "remembers" the volume settings from the various speakers, e.g. plug in headphones - it jumps to 3/4 volume, set "office...

Building a "headless system" - skipping the receiver... but how?

I'm putting a "system" in a Jeep CJ. The Jeep doesn't lock. It will almost never even have a top on it. So, the system will be cheap... and hidden. I'll have two speakers behind the dash, and a small 4-channel amp hidden behind the dash. I'll have RCA and power/ground cables run to the back of...
