    sub wiring

I would personally run it 2ohm stereo, alot of amp lose damping factor when you bridge them. You'll get the same power and possibly a touch better sound.

    help with splitters

Consider an outboard crossover or line driver that splits the preouts with out cutting voltage. I think AudioControl makes a line driver / crossover combo that will help you out on a lot of levels (increased RCA voltage, high quality crossover, and some signal filtering) Just a thought!

    Help needed

Is the entire head unit dead? The reason I ask, the radio tuner is actually in the trunk on the left hand wheel well under the carpet, and if that went out the radio itself won't work.

    reversed polarity

Actually there is no polarity to a speaker, the + and - are only for phasing. When you invert one sub and statndard mount the other you have to reverse the + and - to maintain phase (the in or out movement of the sub). However hooking a sub up with the - of the sub to the + of the amp, the sub...

    I can't crimp...even with a crimping tool

Those crimpers do that but higher quality crimps make them a C shape, just putting a dent in the back side of the crimp.

    alternator and battery question

You definitely need a new battery, just replace the stock one with a Yellow Top.

    I can't crimp...even with a crimping tool

Put the crimp on the bare wire then take the crimpers on the plastic part of the crimp at a 90 degree angle and squeeze like all hell. (imagine you are choking the crimp around the neck, it always helps me to think about my x girlfriend when using those type of crimpers.)

    Eclipse 86100dvc T/S parameters

I recently got an Eclipse 86100dvc (10 inch DVC) and I need the Thiele Small parameters for this woofer. If anyone has the manual for this woofer I would really be happy if you'd share. Thanks!

    which would you prefer?

Consider Boston components, but make sre to listen to them on the display. I hate any kind of noise I can describe as harsh and I really like like them, especially @ the $150 - $200 price point.

    Choice

Speakers like highs or subs? Just wondering . . . It's going to be tough to get a deck and any kind of speakers for under $300.

Dissappointed with the Alpine Type S

The speakers themselves aren't distorting it's the output of the deck that is distorting. An amp will defintely help, and I think the 60x2 is sufficient, but the 75x2 shouldn't hurt them. Just set the gains properly and enjoy!!

    AMP wiring

High level is a signal that has been amplified, low level being preamp (such as RCA). With some cars the sub has it's own amp and has preamp inputs where you may be able to get an adapter to put out RCA connections. I would use the LLC or LOC (line output converter) off the factory sub, however...

    am i underpowering?

The magnet size really has nothing to do with how loud the subs are. Power, efficiency, box design, and signal are really what determine how "hard you will hit". The amp you're talking about here will definitly power the subs but consider moving to something a bit larger of some quality...

    I can't crimp...even with a crimping tool

For the type of crimpers you are using, just line up the crimp with the part with the dots. They signify what size crimp you are using (ie red crimp to red dot and blue to blue). However, better crimpers are available in the electrical section of you home supply store (Lowe's, Home Depot) from...

    Cap or battery?

Both require more output on your alternator, especially a second battery. A cap maybe better in your situation (I'v read your alternator posts), just remember, caps don't make power they just store and release it.
